WELCOME TO THE NEW JERSEY CHAPTER OF THE NORTH CAROLINA CENTRAL UNIVERSITY ALUMNI ASSOCIATION WEBSITE. Our main purpose is to support North Carolina Central University thorough fundraising for student scholarships and other projects that may assist the University. As one of the Association's oldest chapters, we have been serving the state of New Jersey since our formation in 1960.

North Carolina Central University was founded by Dr. James E. Shepard in 1908. As one of the country's  foremost liberal arts universities, NCCU is located on the rolling hills of Durham, North Carolina. The University is one of the nation's best Historically Black College or University (HBCU) educational institutions. A stalwart in collegiate academia as attested  by it's high ranking Law School, Nursing, and Biotechnical departments, NCCU has several other award winning departments. With approximately 8,500 undergraduate students, and outstanding post graduate and doctorate programs, NCCU  is an ideal choice for today's students.

Athletically, with 17 Men's and Women's programs, the University features some of the country's greatest programs. The football team has won or tied for the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) title for the last 3 years. The basketball team, who was pioneered by NBA Naismith double Hall of Fame coach John McClendon (who was a student of the founder of basketball Dr. James Naismith), currently has won the conference championship and gone to the NCAA Division I tournament 2 of the last 3 years.  The University's greatest athletic achievement however, has been the pioneering Track and Field program. Led by it's founder and architect  Dr. LeRoy T. Walker, the program has produced 7 Olympians winning 5 Gold, 1 Silver, 2 Bronze Olympic Medals, along with 19 National Champions.

Famous alumni who have gone to this University include: Sam Jones (NBA Boston Celtics Hall of Famer), Maynard Jackson (former Atlanta 3 term Mayor), Kim Fields (comedian, actress-Living Single), Ivon Dixon (actor-Hogan's Heroes), Ernie Barnes (former pro football player and artist), Andre Leon Talley (Editor, Journalist), G.K. Butterfield-(US Congressional Representatiave), Eddie Long (former Pastor of Megachurch New Birth Missionary in Atlanta), Lee Calhoun-(Olympic Double Gold Medalist), Wouri Vice (Wardrobe Stylist), Rashon Rucker (Award Winning Photo Journalist and Artist),  just to name a few.
